A lovely young friend is working on her degree in physical therapy so she can help people who have experienced the loss of a limb.  She wants them to know that they are capable of so much more than they may think they are.

It is easy to get caught up with your limitations, but God’s strength makes you capable.  Paul reminds us of this in Philippians 4:13 (NIV): “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

Writing Prompt

In what area of your life do you feel limited?  What are your fears?  What can you do to trust that God will give you the strength you need?

Week 2: Can I Trust God In Trials?

At age 13, surfer Bethany Hamilton lost her arm in a shark attack.  Within a month she was back on her surfboard, living the life God gave her and determined to glorify God in the process.  Two years after her accident Bethany took first place in the National Scholastic Surfing Association Championship.
Paul says this about our trials:  “…for Christ’s sake, we should delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10)

Writing Prompt

How have your trials glorified God?  What trials or hurts are you allowing to keep you paralyzed?  What might you need to do to change this?

Week 3: Can I Trust God With My Worry?

Psalm 56:3 says, “When I am afraid, I will trust in you.”

Dutch Christian Corrie ten Boom helped Jews escape during the Holocaust. She spent months in a concentration camp, lost her father and sister, yet she emerged as a faithful Christ-follower who spent her life in service to God and others.

“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow.  It empties today of its strength,” said Corrie. “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.

Week 4: Can I Trust God with My Fear?

In your heart you might know that God is calling you to step out of your comfort zone and do something for Him and His people, but you feel paralyzed by your fears.

You’re not alone. Moses felt paralyzed by his speech problems. Timothy felt restricted by his age. Paul felt limited by the thorn in his side.

“What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” Mark 9:23 (NLT)

Writing Prompt

What is your comfort zone? What is holding you back from stepping out in faith?
